January; the best month for water sports!

January is indeed one of the best months to visit the Maldives. Perfect way to enter the new year; relaxing by the beach with the view of miles of ocean ahead of you. Temperatures usually hover around the mid-80s, sea temperatures are bath-water warm, and rainfall is at a low. It also has the second highest hours of sunlight per day for any month (beaten only by February). You can expect perfectly sunny days enabling you to laze around by the beach or engage in some fun water sports in the Maldives. The ocean around our properties in the Maldives are clear and warm during January; so get your snorkels on, or why not even scuba-dive?

A sun-loving February; best for long days by the beach!

February is considered to be the peak of the high season in Maldives and there’s no surprise why! While the temperature still stays in the mid-80s, you can expect a staggering 10 hours of sunlight a day on average. All you need to make your Maldives trip the best is sunlight and swim wear, right?! The long and sunny days makes for clear waters and the perfect time for snorkeling and diving in the Maldives.

March; a good month to dive in and snorkel!

March is also considered to be high season in the Maldives and the weather conditions are similar to that of the months of January and February. However, the humidity can feel a little higher during March, so don’t forget to bring some light and airy clothes to enjoy the Maldives and the weather better. You can snorkel and dive your way through March as well. Be ready for some real adventure when you travel to the Maldives in March!

April; best for lazing around!

April marks the beginning of the low season for Maldives Travels but that does not mean there’s nothing to do in the Maldives! The ocean becomes warmer enabling some quality time by the sea and in it. However, make sure you’re indoors at our Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts properties before the rains start to fall. May; the best for catching some waves!

In May, average rainfall stands at a high 216mm a month, the average hours of sunshine is expected to fall as well, along with an expected high humidity as well. However, if you don’t mind warm rain, March can be a great time to getaway to the Maldives. May is considered to be the coolest time of the year, weather-wise.
May is the beginning of the surf in the North and South Male Atolls, which sees surfers flocking to resorts and guesthouses with good access to the breaks; definitely the best time to visit the Maldives to bring out the surfer in you. For the more laid-back souls, May is also the Whale shark spotting season; contact the staff at our properties who will organize the perfect expedition for you!

June; best for Manta ray spotting adventures!

Rainfall is still frequent moving to the month of June but the temperature is warm and clear skies are quite common. The surf season still continues, so you can try your hand at surfing and face those waves with confidence.
June also marks the beginning of the Manta ray spotting season in the Northern Atolls of the Maldives. Fret not, our staff at Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts are always ready with your adventure package!

July; the best time to spot some Manta rays and Whale sharks!

The surfing season is in high flow with the average wave measuring two to eight feet in height. It is also the perfect month to dive with manta rays and whale sharks that come to feed on the enormous amounts of plankton in the water.
The 26th July is the Maldivian Independence Day which celebrates the end of the British protectorate and will give rise to parades and public celebrations on most of the islands including our Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts properties. So there’s some culture and tradition you can catch if you’re a culture enthusiast!

August; time to surf to your heart’s content!

August is hot, humid and wet, with an average of seven hours of sunshine each day and short heavy downpours throughout the day. However, there’s always something to do in the Maldives and surfing is still in season in some Atolls of the Maldives.

September; the best time to learn the culture and traditions of the Maldives.

September is considered to be the height of the rainy season and marks the peak of the low season for Maldives travels. However, it is a good time for the surfers and travelers who are more interested in learning the culture, tradition and lifestyle here in the Maldives than the perfect tan.
Due to the heavy rainfall and higher levels of plankton in the water, visibility for snorkeling and scuba-diving is slightly less but you still might get lucky in catching a glimpse of Manta rays and Whale sharks. Really, it is never a bad time!

October; another good time for surfing!

October is the last month of the Maldives’ surfing season; the South-West monsoons which occur between May and October provide the best conditions for surfing in the Northern and Central Atolls.
The good news is that October also marks the end of the low season for Maldives; so bid adieu to the rains and say hello to the good times!

November; scuba-diving month again!

As promised, the visibility of the water begins to improve with the plankton clearing up, making it a good time for snorkeling, diving and scuba-diving again! So, here’s the chance for the water babies again!
